What the Work Typically Costs

These are starting points, not quotes, and sales tax is extra. Your estimate is free and in writing, and it covers your yard, not an average.

  • Paver patios and walkways $48 to $90 per sq ft

Installed, on our 6 inch minimum base. Premium pavers and complex designs run toward the top.

  • Retaining walls About $150 per sq ft of wall face

A boulder wall 27 ft long and 2.5 ft tall came to about $10,100, drainage included.

  • Stone edging $19 to $30 per linear ft

On longer runs, set on a base. Runs under 25 ft cost more per foot, $40 to $70.

  • Mulch, installed $150 per cubic yard

    Mulch and labor together.

  • Garden beds and rock beds $7 to $17 per sq ft

With fabric, topsoil and edging. Bigger beds run lower per foot. Most of these jobs come to $3,500 to $8,500.

  • Artificial turf From $15 to $22 per sq ft

The bigger the area, the lower the rate. Pet turf with a drainage grid is at the high end.

  • Spring cleanups $400 to $1,200

Most are around $700, depending on the size of the yard and beds.

  • Raised garden beds About $3,500 a bed

Custom cedar, built on site and filled. Size and height change it.

Drainage and landscape lighting vary too much for a range. We price them after walking the property, in writing, before anything is dug.

Why Prices Move

What Changes the Number

  • Access

If a machine can reach the work, it goes faster. Hand digging and wheelbarrows cost more.

  • What comes out first

Old patios, stumps, rock and overgrown beds have to be removed and hauled before anything new goes in.

  • What the ground needs

Clay, slopes and wet spots can mean deeper base, more stone or added drainage.

  • Size

Bigger jobs cost less per foot. Small jobs carry the same trucks and setup across fewer feet.

  • Materials

Tumbled pavers cost more than standard ones, and natural stone more than block.
