Three long garden beds now run along the side yards and back of this Oregon home, about 26 by 4 feet and 23 by 4 feet. We took out the turf first. A stump was in the way, so we brought in a stump grinder.

We graded in topsoil and pinned down non-woven geotextile fabric. Then 8 tons of 1.5 inch white limestone chips went on top, with black edging along the lawn.
